The Farm Energy Project is a UK based think tank. Our vision is for profitable, low-emissions farms to play a key role in supplying renewable energy to sustainable communities. We develop policy, projects and technologies to support that vision.
Our work
Our goal is to help unlock the huge potential of farms to generate energy, cut greenhouse emissions and help create a sustainable rural economy. Our thinking focuses on a number of themes, including from which emergeresearch and practical projects.

Our current work includes:

Policy redesign to help land-use industries reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Assessing low-carbon technologies in a farm context
•
Addressing rural poverty and joblessness through helping land-use industries to diversify into energy production
•
Stimulating the local production and consumption of energy and fuels and developing local fuel networks
•
Designing novel finance mechanisms and new business models, e.g. community co-ownership of energy generation assets
