About the Farming and Rural Issues Group (FRIG) and SEEDA

FRIG is the united voice of the land-based sector - a grouping of 12 organisations representing agriculture, horticulture, forestry and the allied industries. Shaun Leavey, a former regional director of NFU South East, continues to chair the group which puts forward ideas for positive strategies for rural areas to the Government Office of the South East (GOSE) and the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), as the Regional Development Agency for the South East, is responsible for the sustainable economic development and regeneration of the South East of England - the driving force of the UK's economy. Its aim is to create a prosperous, dynamic and inspirational region by helping businesses compete more effectively, training a highly skilled workforce, supporting and enabling communities while safeguarding natural resources and cherishing the region's rich cultural heritage. The economy of the South East is the 20th largest in the world and covers the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and East and West Sussex. It is also home to over eight million people and is the largest region in the UK. www.seeda.gov.uk
