The Farm Energy Project has been awarded funds from NESTA's Big Green Challenge Plus to develop novel business and finance models to help farmers generate renewable energy.
Building on research undertaken to analyse the barriers to generating energy, our work will focus initially on developing ‘Farm Wind’, a prototype renewable energy generation package will make it straightforward for farms to diversify into small-scale energy production and enter the energy market. It is our intention to develop the package for a range renewable energy technologies.
The Big Green Challenge Plus is a programme to support a range of projects to realise their ambitions to deliver significant carbon savings within their respective communities.
The goal is to uncover exceptional exemplars of communities coming together to reduce carbon emissions and develop community responses to climate change.
The Big Green Challenge is project of NESTA's Public Services Innovation Lab, which is testing new ways to deliver better services for less.
